Changfang Xu
Associate

Changfang Xu is an associate attorney at the Behan Law Group. She works diligently to defend clients’ constitutional rights and reach the best solutions for cases. Her achievements include dismissal of cases due to right to counsel violations and other constitutional violations.
Born and raised in China, she obtained her Bachelor of Arts in English from the Southwest University of Political Science and Law in China. She then took and passed the National Bar Exam in China without a law degree. She was officially licensed after one year of intensive training and apprenticeship, which was a prerequisite for people to get licensed after passing the bar exam. Before moving to Tucson to pursue her J.D. degree, she was an attorney in Shanghai, China practicing civil and commercial litigation.
She later moved to Tucson to pursue her Juris Doctor degree at the James E. Rogers College of Law, University of Arizona. She was the recipient of the Dean’s Achievement Award Scholarship, a full-tuition scholarship covering all three years of law school. This scholarship made her dream to pursue a law degree in the United States come true. In the summer following her first year in law school, she clerked for the Honorable Greg Sakall at the Pima County Superior Court. While in law school, she was an editor of the Arizona Journal of International & Comparative Law. She also worked for the Child and Family Law Clinic for a year representing the minors in child dependency proceedings initiated by the Department of Child Safety. Because of the excellent legal writing skills she exhibited, she was selected to be a Writing Fellow for the legal writing program. In 2020, she participated in the Fegtly Intramural Moot Court Competition and won the Award of Excellence in Brief Writing on a motorhome search issue that implicated both the 4th Amendment of the United States Constitution and the Privacy Clause of the Arizona Constitution.
